EvaRIO Final Conference
We are happy to announce our wrapping up conference which will take place on 16th-17th October 2013.
The project is now coming to an end and we are convening a final meeting in Strasbourg, in order to present the results of the study to representatives of research infrastructures, policy makers and academic researchers, and to put them intoperspective thanks to alternative approaches.
Aim and Structure of the final conference
The project is now coming to an end and we are convening a final meeting in Strasbourg, in order to present the results of the study to representatives of research infrastructures, policy makers and academic researchers, and to put them into perspective thanks to alternative approaches. The 1st day consists in a presentation of EvaRIO main results: development and test of the EvaRIO specific approach for evaluating RIs (core study) and 4 exploratory studies on specific topics (focus studies). The 2nd day aims at putting EvaRIO results into a broader perspective. Session 1 does so by exposing the challenges faced in the context of EvaRIO, mainly related to the problem of evaluating the impact of science, especially in a complex field with high potential consequences for the economy and society, namely the Biological and Medical Sciences (BMS). The second and third sessions explore some promising attempts of evaluation approaches: i) applied to fields that show some similarities with the one covered by EvaRIO: platforms in BMS, big science facilities, e-RIs (Session 2), and, ii) dealing with different aspects of what is considered as the key issue in EvaRIO, i.e. the process of knowledge creation and diffusion (Session 3). The 2nd day ends with a round table discussion, which will be fed by the main results and recommendations arising from the EvaRIO project (summarized at the end of day 1) compared with the main insights from day 2 presentations.
